We honestly do not get up here enough. I typically only come up when I am getting low on my Asian receipt ingredients – things like Vietnamese beef pho base, Japanese seaweed sushi wraps, various rice noodles, and the various fresh vegetables that only Jungle Jim’s can offer. We also buy all of our wine here, they have an excellent selection and a case discount that makes it worth the drive. My favorite thing to do is fine anything 89 or higher from Wine Connoisseur and around $25 and buy it. The last time I was here I stocked up on frozen Chinese dumplings and this plan is for something more perishable, specifically cheeses, as my oldest son’s become curious about cheese in his own right.

Our latest discover though was the charcuterie counter. Honestly we usually skip over this part, it’s around one of the last bends before you pass candy/cooking utensils/pet supplies and towards the registers. Instead I stopped by in curious and we ordered a lot of different deli meats and they were all delicious. After this was also a new pop culture collectible area that offered a lot of interesting things. Anyway, we spent like $800 here, a new record, but our larders are full of delicious foods.

2024 Raingutter Regatta

I wanted to bring this event to my Cub Scout Pack for some time. I really wanted something new that leaned in on the E in STEM (engineering) and taught them the “reuse” in the three Rs. For this event, I purchased an inflatable raceway and had the scouts make their boats out of garbage from home. They made some really cool stuff and they were so proud of their projects. I like that we didn’t make it competitive. The exercise was just to get it to float and make it to the end of the raceway. We did give away some awards for winners here also. I hope this become an annual event for our scouts!
