Cub World Summer Camp, Sake Bomb, Red White And Boom

Cub World

Three days and two nights are spent at Cub World 2023. We had a wonderful time. The weather was nice for this year, unlike last year, where it rained for two days straight. There was also an enormous improvement in food as they contracted a new food provider. Last year the food was terrible. Like I’ve said, I don’t care what the food tastes like I’ll eat it, but my kids are not the same. They will gladly skip a meal they don’t care for if things aren’t just right. This isn’t a big deal for one meal but when it gets to two or three we have a problem. Needless to say though the food was really, really good.

Some other notes to add is that camping behind the fort was a great idea. Being able to not worry about rooms and being hot worked out well. It was also close to the parking lot so hauling our stuff was no big deal. Finally, I am glad we chose the holiday weekend. The place was practically empty and less stressful than years past. It had a really low key vibe to it and we enjoyed that for sure.

Sake Bomb

My oldest son has turned into a ramen fanatic, like father like son I guess. I love ramen so much! Sake Bomb has a Korean ramen that is beef based with lots of veggies and can be ordered spicy. This restaurant’s become one of our favorite places to go after the pool and the boys love it. Inside there is a Korean style tea table with chairs and we sometimes sit there. They think that’s really cool and ‘fancy’. The sushi here is also really good and we order quite often from it. Got to support the local businesses!

Red, White and Boom!

This is my second Cincinnati Pops concert. My first was a Christmas concert that we enjoyed. I’ve always wanted to go to the Fourth of July Pops. I would see it promoted on PBS and think maybe it would be fun but shyed away because it seemed like it was for a more “mature” crowd per se. I guess I am in that mature crowd now. The concert was fun and patriotic. The Boy Scouts brought out the opening flag. The crowd was super chill. Our seats were in the pavilion and nobody stood up so we got to sit the entire time. We also arrived early for a workshop and the boys played around with some drums and other instruments. After the show they had a really great fireworks display. I think I would do this again in the future. If you sit on the lawn children are free as a note too.
