Birthday Dinner For Teddy

Birthday Dinner For Teddy

Our little Ted is starting to not be so little anymore. We celebrated his twelfth birthday with a trip to Kings Island and dinner with my siblings at Oriental Wok. He’s always wanted to be one of the birthday celebrants there who gets to wear the funny hat and watch the sparkler burn in a pile of ice cream. Today was his chance. We also treated everyone to his favorite dish there, crab Rangoon s, which are the best in the area. We love Oriental Wok, the food is delicious and the owners and managers are very nice people. We also visited Graeter’s next door, which is a birthday tradition we also celebrate.

I remember being his age, my experience in life was a little different. In my timeline, I would have my whole world turned upside down with the quick death of my father, a change in schools in my eighth grade year, a physical move, and an entirely new direction in my life. It is incredible to actually see how young I was when I went through all of that, and I love seeing Ted get a childhood. Of course, that also means I need to live at least another ten years, which I plan on doing, so that they can be adults if something were to happen to me. I understand this seems morbid but I feel if you do not embrace death you never really appreciate life.
