Week 4 – Operations Strategy

We delved into strategy by reading “What is Strategy” by Kryscynski and “Don’t Just Create Value – Capture It” by Ryall. We also read Iansiti’s “Operations Strategy”. This was a content heavy week with topics I would expect in an MBA class. We talked about the Value Capture Model (VCM) and how to turn strategy into reality. We learned a lot about strategy itself and how those line up with performance objectives. We looked at Resource-Based Operations Strategies and resource types. We also looked at directed versus emergent strategy and how that forms operations strategy. We wrote a very long paper on Boeing versus Aerobus. Ultimately this week could have been a course in itself.
