Tim McGraw Concert – Cincinnati OH

Our second country concert this year is Tim McGraw, who we were lucky to see at Riverbend. We arrived early enough to see the opening acts, but quickly something felt off. The crew was in no rush to set up the stage for McGraw after the last opener finished, and we were a little confused. This was a Thursday mind you, and we both had work the next morning, so we were in no mood to be late. Eventually 9:45 hits and McGraw finally shows up. He came out and said they were stuck in New York because of a weather delay and their flights were late. My first thought was that’s pretty ballsy to not stay in town the night before to make sure you made your show start.

It was clear the band had not warmed up or changed into their performing clothing. They played the first set acoustic because they most likely did not have time to rehearse on the electric instruments. Eventually they started playing on the big kit, then another interesting event occurred. McGraw, standing on top of a speaker box, falls off and lands right on his rump. He eventually recovered and kept playing, which was impressive.

Overall, glad to see him live and check this off my list, but definitely not the best show I have seen, and a little disappointed in the experience.
