Visit to Austin TX
Flight and Airport
To be honest, I rarely fly, so when it happens to me it is notable. First off, I do not enjoy it. I appreciate the convenience, but as a broad shouldered many at 75 inches tall I find aircraft seating to be uncomfortable. Some takes though, CVG, although it doesn’t get much love, has nice plug-in workstations that I appreciated. ABIA felt smaller but was extremely busier. It has the feel of a regional airport that is undersized for its purpose, which is how Austin feels in general. On the flight down I had my row to myself, which I appreciated on a regional aircraft. I did upgrade to first class on the way home because the flight was full. That was a good $150 well spent. They also served a quality lunch with the upgrade, which was a nice surprise. I also liked boarding the plane first and getting my baggage up and stowed.
I will also add I may switch my hotel preference to Embassy Suites by Hilton. The room was spacious and I slept well, but the breakfast was incredible. They had an omelet bar that I took full advantage of in my short stay there.
Dinner at County Line on the Lake
I asked for my visit to sample quality Texas barbecue. We were taken to County Line on the Lake, located not far from the office. I ordered the five meat platter. The turkey was very good. The beef rib was OK, I think it was cooked well but beef rib in general is inferior to pork ribs in my opinion. I enjoyed the sausage. I also learned that you can order brisket cut with more or less fat in it, and I chose well. The sides were very tasty. I was pretty full afterwards and took a thirty minute walk after arriving back at my hotel to aid in digestion.
