Study Progress This Week

This is the first week with me taking my structured approach to learning. I was able to get some reading and podcasts in and learned some interesting stuff.

A Cloud Guru – I finished chapter 6 “Database Technology And Services” from the AWS-CLFC02 course. I learned about memory based database solutions, Dynamo DB, and AWS’ cloud migration services.
Data Pipelines, Moving and Processing Data for Analytics. I finished chapter 5 “Data Ingestion: Loading Data.” There was some great information in there about what data ingestion for different services looks like and how to use Python to accomplish it.

Findings/Notes

I listened to a few podcasts this week. On Stack Overflow they talked about the current state of data and analytics. On .NET Rocks! they talked about aspect oriented programming in 2024, specifically topics surrounding Azure Cloud
After learning about in memory databases, I took a deep dive into Redis and what it is and how it is used.
I came across a topic regarding ETL/ELT tools out there and watched some videos on Fivetran, Airbyte, and Singer. I also finally understand what dbt is and how it is used. Finally, I took a look at Snowflake as a database solution and liked what I saw there.
