Cub Scout Skit Night, Daily Workouts

Cub Scout Skit Night

We launched our first ever Cub Scout Skit Night. Skits and songs are a big part of scouting, and unfortunately often overlooked. I wanted to bring in a workshop to teach a few scouts a little skit they could do or song they could sing at our April Campout. Oftentimes younger dens don’t have anything prepared for our campfire experience and they can’t participate. Going forward they’ll have something they can do. This also teaches some confidence and ability to have fun with other people.

Daily Workouts

I’ve transitioned to a morning workout routine and I am seeing terrific results. This was an easy shift for me, easier than what I thought would be for sure. I usually worked out during lunchtime but because of meetings that bleed over into the afternoon and working in a distributed workforce with many people west of me, I can’t make time during the day anymore. My mornings before 7:00 AM are the only time I get to myself it seems, so I now use that time to workout. I am now in the gym every morning at 6:00 AM and out by 7:00 AM. I then head home, eat breakfast, shower, then get the boys ready and into school. I then start my day.

I’ve done mostly weight training in the mornings, although I want to expand it some and get cardio in. I typically use the local gym I belong to and not the big family center, because the previous is down the street and I can get home easily. My fear is if I go to the larger one, which is down the expressway, I could miss coming home in time because of an accident or something. This routine seems to work well for me.

I am also taking my doctor’s advice and getting up every thirty minutes to stretch and I’ve seen some improvements there. I oftentimes get really zeroed in on what I’m doing and hours can go by where I’ve not moved a muscle. This is obviously a terrible way to go about the day so I’m paying more attention to the clock and making sure I get up on the halves.
