Visit To The National Air Force Museum

We didn’t have much planned during my week off work for the holidays. I’ve been blessed to be able to get some paid time off so I can spend time with the family, and that is what I try to do. I am kind of burned out on Christmas things to do so we decided to do something fun and educational. We made our way up to the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio with a friend of mine who is very knowledgeable in aircraft technology. We learned a lot and wore ourselves out seeing all of the exhibits. We decided to do the museum in reverse, to start with the newest technology in the Space Wing and walk our way backwards to see how far we could get. This strategy worked out as the boys were engaged the entire time and saw plenty of things to get excited about.

I was really interested in seeing some of the drones. That technology really seems to have shifted what air superiority means and what the United States can do globally, everything from surveillance to targeted weaponry can be deployed so quickly and vastly. I also love space, and I was tickled to see that the spacesuit even included an Omega Speedmaster on the wrist. There is also an exhibit dedicated to the Air Force’s Presidential Plan program and you can see the inside of those. The plane that flew Lyndon Johnson when he was sworn in as president is there also.

Night At The Movies

We decided to sneak out and see the newest DC movie at the theaters. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the last installment in the DCEU. It was OK I guess. We did enjoy our enormous bowl of popcorn and frozen sodas. Some exciting previews were on, including Dune 2 and Mad Max Furiosa, which I am looking forward to seeing also.

Back To Work

I enjoyed my week off work and I’m planning my 2024 this week as well. I’ve realized there are some weak spots in my skill set I need to round out if I want to improve as a Data Engineer and I worked out my plan for it, which I will share in a blog post.
