A New Sushi Restaurant, A Trip To Ault Park, and Trap Shooting

New Sushi Restaurant – We decided for our date night to drive through Cincinnati and stop at the first interesting place. Honestly, I was craving some Asian food and wanted a hip place to try it. Luckily we stumbled upon Sushinati on Erie Avenue. Evidently this is their second location and fairly newer. The exterior is decorated with a mural of different fish, where the interior is that classic modern feel of wood/black paint. There was some art inside as well. Overall the interior was OK, it felt a little disjointed, not quite the “hey we pay attention to every detail” feel but definitely not your classic Asian restaurant “hey we also live in the back” feel either.

The food was amazing, probably the best sushi we’ve ever tried. It was definitely fresh and well put together and visually popped. The japchae was out of this world. I would 100% order this again. It had the perfect combination of textures and flavors that I like in Korean food.

A few notes – Korean food is starting to become my favorite. Forever it’s been Japanese, but Koreans bring some spice which I appreciate.

Ault Park – My wife and I needed some time alone to do a little exploring and hiking. Since we couldn’t go too far out we visited Ault Park. I used to like this park when I attended university around there and ride my bike to it with a friend. It is one of the nicer parks. The landscaping is really nice. The central building and fountain kind of the icon of the park. It has views into Northern Kentucky and the rolling hills of Cincinnati. If I were to live in Cincinnati it would be close to this park most likely.

A few notes – we also went to Aglamesis afterwards for ice cream. This is an absolute must when in the area. Their sincere sodas are terrific, as are their malts.

Trap Shooting – I am looking for a few hobbies to get back into and use to relax. I do not relax easily so it needs to be something that can take my mind off things and also give me something to improve upon. I am more of a “doer” than “collector”, although hobbies tend to include both. I make that distinction because from my view you can split them into those two categories. The collecting side of the hobby world I try to stay away from, but like I said, it’s hard to get into a hobby and not buy all of the little accoutrements that accompany it.

A few notes – I will need to come back and spend more time on the trap range. I just need to see more clays come out of the trap thrower. It is just a machine with a certain level of predictability.

Addendum – shoutout to Ray’s Burrito for the delicious Chicken Tikka Masala burrito!
