Foods I’ve Eaten Recently

Foodie report – here are some notable food experiences I’ve had recently. Yes, I am a food dork but everyone has something I guess. Here’s my top five from recent dining visits.

  • Ole Times Country Buffet – My favorite stop in Macon, GA. We arrived right at noon. Evidently they role out the meats at 2:00, so we got their lunch buffet instead. There was no brisket, but the fried fish was absolutely delicious. Of course, I come here for the southern style vegetable. I ate probably five pounds of black eyed peas (one of my favorites). The food here is incredible and I can’t wait to come back.
  • Raw Oysters from P.J.’s Oyster Bar – I love raw oysters. I wish we had them more available where I live (where they are they are very expensive). Of course whenever I’m near the ocean I get oysters galore. Pair them up with a cracker and horseradish and I am in absolute heaven. I could eat tray and tray of these. I should add the grilled grouper here was very good too, this might be our must visit while in this part of Florida.
  • Anecdote Brewing – I grabbed five random beers from Anecdote. They came in these cool metal cans, like a growler, but aluminum. Syntax Error was one of my favorite of the bunch. We drank quite a bit while on the beach – a case of Busch Light, a bottle of gin, several bottles of wine, and a bottle of bourbon cream for desert. We ran out of booze so I stopped in and bought these cans so we could drink them on the beach.
  • Sushi Burrito from PHO Vietnamese Cuisine – sushi burritos are soo good. I always wanted to try one and finally got my chance. Why can’t we have these where I live? It is no secret, I am an Asian food fan. I love rice and seafood. I love the way they treat vegetables. In fact, Asian food got me eating more vegetables than I’ve had before I started eating them.
  • Musubi from Kealoha’s Kitchen – Musubi is a spam sushi sandwich popular in Pacific Islander food culture and if you’ve not had one you are missing out my friend. I also love their teriyaki chicken thighs, which are salty sweet. This was my last meal before I transitioned over to keto for a shred-off before pool season. This might be my first meal when I come back off of it in the fall.
