Cardio

Cardio

I hate cardio. Unfortunately, you cannot expect a healthy heart without cardio work. What I hate is mindless machine work. Treadmills, rowing machines, ellipticals are all painful for me. I do like spinning, especially a long, grinding climb. But everything else? I struggle to get through it.

The alternatives to cardio includes some of my favorites though, namely hiking, cycling, and swimming. I already went about hiking in my last post, now I will talk about cycling. One of my favorite possessions is of course my kayak, which has been with me nigh twenty years, but also my bike, a Specialized Sport in black with blue highlights. It is an amazing bike and I am so appreciative to have it. I am also a fan of swimming. I did not learn how to properly swim until I was in my early thirties, where I learned watching YouTube videos and peppering questions to a nice many I met while swimming laps who gave me some sage advice about technique. My favorite way to swim is using a swimming snorkel, which allows me to control my breath and stay moving. I luckily have a few options for swimming. I can choose summer swimming at Taylor Mill Swim Club (TSMC) or at the NKU Rec Center, where I am a student.
