Birthday Fun

We celebrated my youngest son’s birthday with a spectacular birthday weekend. The poor fella’s had a few lousy birthdays, people just out on vacation because it falls during the summer months, etc., so we wanted to make it up to him. We first celebrated by doing our normal birthday celebration, dinner at your favorite restaurant and a stop at Graeter’s for ice cream. He instead chose breakfast and wanted First Watch so he could get chocolate chip pancakes, so we went there. We still went to Skyline for his dinner that day too. The next day we took him to purchase a new bicycle, then to Dave and Buster’s for lunch and we let them play until he was tired and wanted to leave. The next day we had his family party and everyone showed up. It was a great weekend for him.

The Bare Naked Ladies

Leslie and I went to our first concert together in some time. We saw the Bare Naked Ladies at PNC Pavilion. We had a nice time. We ate dinner there, which was more Skyline Chili, and I kind of need a break from it. A very chill crowd, it was easy to get in and out of the concert. I couldn’t help but feel I was around the same group of people for any given concert in 1995. Fastball opened up for them, then Guster, the BNL. Fastball is a band I wasn’t familiar with until they played their two famous songs which I knew every word to because in the nineties it was on the radio ten times a day. Guster I was not so familiar with, I remember them from the nineties but more of a college FM radio group. BNL was fun although I’ll admit it was a disappointment not seeing Steven Page with the group because I loved his voice, but Ed Robertson did not disappoint. They played a full show and it was fun.

On the ride home the Bronco received a flat tire. I have no idea what happened, I pulled out of the space at Riverbend and heard a crunching sound. I am curious if someone put a bottle under the tire or something. Luckily and thank the Lord we reached a gas station so I could change the tire out.

Other Updates

Hand soreness easing off but not all of the way. I purchased a brace for my thumb which seems to be helping a bit more. It seems that as long as it’s immobile the tenderness wears off and the pain is manageable. I suspect if this continues a bit more I’ll go see the doctor but I still think it”s just through overexertion and just needs some rest.

Not seeing much point in Telegram. Removed YouTube and Reddit from my iPhone. Reading a lot of comics as an escape. Probably started too many books recently because of curiosity. I fired back up my Twitter account and that is still trash. It seems all of the good tech accounts on there are no longer posting. Some have moved to the Fedeverse, which I kind of find boring too. What a shame with Twitter. That used to be an excellent resource for learning. So many interesting people were accessible and then Elon takes over and boom trash city. I should mention the site is incredibly buggy too now.
