MGT 623 – Leading Diverse and Innovative Teams – Week 1

High Performing Teams – We kicked off the week learning about the expectations and cadence. There is no group project or end of semester paper, which is comforting. There is a lot of reading in this class though, including the first paper book I’ve purchased in my entire career as an NKU MBA student. We dive into dysfunctions of a team and how to remedy it, what makes teams effective, and what looks to become a theme this class on an idea called “psychological safety.”

I am most excited about this class. My weakest skill is leadership, simply because I have spent most of my career as an individual contributor. I foresee a future where I embrace leadership more, and I hope to find that opportunity within a year of graduating from this program. The more preparation I can do now the better it will be for the team I will lead in the future.
