Florence Y’Alls, CubWorld Summer Camp, Dave and Buster’s
Florence Y’Alls
We attended a local Pioneer League baseball game. My son’s baseball team was enjoying a special treat for ending their season. They were invited to run down on the field with the players. I do like attending games here, although we rarely go. They are very affordable and family friendly. Unfortunately a strong thunderstorm came through and we only made it through the first half of the first inning. We were able to eat dinner here and enjoyed the food. I also bought a hat. Their colors are reminiscent of the old sky blue/maroon Phillies uniforms, which are kind of cool.
CubWorld Summer Camp
My first full week off from work without any need to log in or do coursework for my MBA. I started off the week absolutely roasting at CubWorld, my son’s Cub Scout camp. That is the hottest I have ever camped, with every minute feeling like a furnace blast. Most days were over 100 degrees. The only respite we had was an hour at the pool and the Dewalt battery powered fans we brought with us. The food took a major downturn, and my son, who is a picky eater anyway, was not having any of it. We ate two dinners at Bob Evans to just get out of the heat and get some food in us. We were able to accomplish what Ben wanted, which was to earn his Whittling Chip. This is a right of passage for every Cub Scout.
To be honest, we pealed out of camp on the last night. The heat was too much. They also changed the schedule so the last day had nothing on it, which didn’t make much sense, so 1/3rd of the camp had left. I do not regret it, it was terrific coming home, getting a shower, and sleeping in my own bed with the AC set at 68 degrees.
Dave and Buster’s
Since Ted was away at Church Camp, Ben and I decided to have some bonding time together. I left him choose what to do and he decided to go to Dave and Buster’s. We spent at least two hours there playing games. When we left my ears were ringing. He enjoyed himself and it was fun to spend time just him and myself, although I am think I’ve had my fill of arcades for a while.
