Happy Zoo Year, Bracken County Archery Tournament, New Year Resolutions
Happy Zoo Year
Because we were not able to get to the zoo during Christmas break, we decided to head there for New Years Eve. It’s a great event. What I like about it is having something to do and being home by 8:00 PM and off the roads. I just do not like being out late on New Years Eve because of the dangers from inhibited drivers. We did not stay late enough for their early ball drop, the boys were cold and wanted to head home. We did enjoy it and were able to also see the Festival of Lights displays, get a picture with the Grinch, and eat a tasty dinner at Base Camp Cafe.
Bracken County Archery Tournament
We went down to Bracken County Archery’s Tournament. Both boys placed number one, mainly because they are the only shooters using the Genesis bow. Ben will have at least another year using that bow, but Ted will most likely step up to compound bow next season.
New Year Resolutions
I rarely make New Year Resolutions. I can’t think of a worst time to do it. People usually put their health number one on the list, but choose the coldest time of the year to get out and exercise. Or, they want to eat healthier, but again not the best time of year for fresh foods. I did break my long time rule and set a few resolutions. First, I want to live this year a little less stressed. I use exercise to do that, specifically weight lifting. I am spotty on my workouts, mostly because I’ve essentially lost my lunch break to meetings and the evenings are too busy with boy’s activities and/or class time. I am rolling in a asynchronous type of workout regiment where I can do 100 reps of an exercise while focusing on my morning workouts. I also am leaning into writing and expanding this blog. There is no better way to learn something to write about it, because it forces you to explain something and you cannot do that unless you understand it.
