WWE Smackdown, Judas Priest, BUS 605 Starts
WWE Smackdown
I brought my son to his first WWE performance and he had a blast. I promised him the next time they came to town on a Friday night I would take him. He got to see all of his favorite wrestlers both between the live broadcast and the dark shows. Cody Rhodes is his favorite, so he was transfixed while he was out there. He also wanted some “merch” so I purchased a few more wrestlers for him. He’s so into WWE it’s incredible. I really wish they wouldn’t split their shows between all of these streaming services. It’s hard keeping track of what is there, and I’m thinking they’re taking their fans for granted. Wrestling fans are dedicated to the business, but they’re not quite sports fans and willing to be led around by the nose like MLB, the NFL, and the NBA can get away with now-a-days with everybody else. Raw is now on Netflix, Smackdown requires a cable streaming package of some type, Saturday Night Main Event and all PPVs are on Peacock, and now ESPN+, which is a streaming service, has their own PPV type shows. We like WWE but it’s just getting too fragmented and I think wrestling fans are starting to complain about it. You have to remember at one point they could pay 9.99 a month to get WWE’s streaming service which had EVERYTHING on it and was carefully curated so you could watch old wrestling shows from the nineties. The ESPN+ might be the breaking point though as it’s nearly 30 a month.
Judas Priest with Alice Cooper
I am trying to see all of the major rock acts before they retire. Although I’m not a huge fan of either of these groups, it was important to be there. I will say seeing them live changed my mind about them considerably. Alice Cooper put on a wonderful show. I really see where his popularity comes from after seeing him live. He played for an hour and it’s hard to argue that he was not a co-headliner. Judas Priest came on and played their brand of very loud, technically proficient metal, which I’ve come to appreciate more too. I’ve never been a fan of the falsetto rock voice, but Rob Halford makes it work. He mentioned they’ve been rocking for 50 years, which is incredible. Of their songs, Painkiller is my favorite and one of the best metal songs period in my opinion.
Week 1 BUS – 605
Business Law starts this week and I am not quite ready for it. October is such a busy month for us, it seems like something is going on every weekend. I kind of wish I’d sat this month out but I also don’t want the confusion of missing a class and trying to figure out if my graduation date is going to change, so I’m just going to keep on it and hope for the best!
