Cincinnati Museum Center, Jungle Jim’s, Perfect Weekend
Cincinnati Museum Center and Jungle Jim’s
We visited Cincinnati Museum Center. It was 50s Day and they had some cool cars there and people dressed up in period attire. Rain kept us away from Kings Island the Cincinnati Zoo this weekend so I think everyone decided to come here. We also saw two Imax films, “Blue Angels” and “Space”. Both were pretty cool and the first time I ever did a double feature at the Imax. We also ate lunch and it was really good. I got a salad and they accidentally gave us an extra cheeseburger so I ate the patty and the pickles. I am still not eating wheat or sugar products. We also saw the Julia Child exhibit which my wife enjoyed.
After the museum we went to Jungle Jim’s. I am working on improving some lipid panel values so I wanted to buy some veggies and canned fish. Canned fish is a great way to get some Omega 3s and work on your cholesterol levels. JJs has the best vegetables too and I bought a lot of those too.
Perfect Weekend
I’ve been trying to craft a perfect weekend, one where I feel like I get the most from the weekend and come back Monday relaxed. It’s very tempting to just veg out and consume media but that isn’t the most productive. Friday night I decided to skip out from watching an episode or movie and instead did some low level tasks that were fun and I can’t do during the week. First I did a puzzle with my youngest son, then got out a more complex 3D puzzle I’ve had sitting on the shelf for too long and started it. I then read some comics on my tablet. Afterwards I played with my yo-yo and then learned how to play Ticket To Ride, a board game we’ve also left sitting on the shelf for too long also. Saturday I woke up and did a full two hour heavy lift session, then came home and
Other Updates
We decided to cancel Paramount Plus and HBO Max. Because we cancelled the latter, we decided to hurry up and finish our last season of The Big Bang Theory. This show gets a weird wrap, yes, it does have its canned laugh tracks, the jokes are a little predictable, and the characters don’t grow much, but we liked watching it as a family. I think Ted liked Sheldon in particular. I liked the DC Comics references and I did think there were some funny parts in it. I didn’t see it as playing down to nerd culture either. Other than Big Bang we don’t have much unfinished business on Max. Maybe we will get it back soon, I am not sure. For now I think we have too many options, and too many options is just as bad as not enough options. In one case you can’t make your mind up, in the other you have nothing to make your mind up on anyway, so in the end you end up with nothing anyway.
I will say I’m not entirely happy with the way Max is going. Right now it just seems like it is redundant. It offers sports I have on the Spectrum app that my internet provider gives me. I rarely see a new release movie on there, and that was the hallmark of HBO. They don’t do enough with their DC IP, and the only real ongoing prestige television they have right now is probably the Last of Us. We are going to try Hulu now instead. I’ve already watched Alien Romulus on it, which I really enjoyed. About that movie though, I found myself feeling for the children in the movie, without realizing they are actually young adults. Wow do I feel old now.
