Cub Scout Leadership Awards

I received a few awards at the recent Trailblazer District Dinner. The first was a training award, which is a common knot that leaders wear on their uniform. You typically receive this when you do your training. The second was a Silver Acorn, which you receive a nomination for and is typically awarded for good service to your pack. That was pretty cool and I appreciated it. I’ve been really busy with this pack and the recognition makes me feel good, although I do not do this for the recognition. A piece of me wanted to skip the dinner entirely but two other friends of mine in Scouting also received district level awards and I wanted to be there for them. I am glad I went though ultimately, I did enjoy myself and I saw many friendly faces.

Indianapolis Children’s Museum

We made another visit to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. We went one time before at the same time of year, which I believe was right before their dinosaur exhibit debuted. Since we missed that last time we went there first and it was incredible. The main auditorium with the concave dome and multi-media lighting and sound was incredible. We also enjoyed the Teenage Mutant Ninjas exhibit as well. We’ve all decided which ninja turtle we are, I am Raphael because I am big and angry, Leslie is Leonardo because she’s our leader, Ben is Michelangelo because he’s a party dude, and Ted is Donnie because he likes gadgets and technology.

Afterwards we went over to Broad Ripple and ate at Lou Malnati’s. The pizza was good, and dinner was affordable. We went with the deep dish, the ravioli, Ted had spaghetti and Ben went with the tried and true chicken tenders.

Violin Concert

Our first concert in the mall. Ted did well and he’s really improving on the violin. I honestly thought he’d of quit this by now but he’s not yet and he’s getting better. It is also incredible to see how much this mall has changed over the years. I remember this place being so cool when I was a kid, now it’s really empty. I can’t really tell you how to save the mall honestly, I thought making it a destination place that included non-shopping would work but those escape rooms, indoor putt-putt, and retro arcade all seem to have failed also. What a shame.
